Obama's Lift

this elevator was inspired by Lockheed's X45 air fighter. Even, sucked deeply in the Financial crisis, Obama stated that the budget for the devel0pment of new concept battle aircraft will raise, which kind of disappointed the civilians and brake the promise he once made in Election that he would cut the budget for military.

Madonna in Malawi to adopt daughter

Madonna is planning to adopt a second child from Malawi, officials said Thursday, but questions already have been raised over whether the newly divorced pop star will face obstacles because of her single mom status.

An official from the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare said Madonna, 50 and a mother of three, had filed adoption papers for an unidentified girl through her charity, Raising Malawi, according to People magazine. Us magazine quoted a senior official from the same ministry as saying, "Our official policy is that we do not encourage our children to be sent into broken homes."

The singer was accused of using her celebrity status to circumvent Malawian adoptions laws when she adopted son David -- allegations she denies. That adoption became final in 2008, the same year she and director Ritchie divorced.

INNOCENT PLEA: A man has pleaded not guilty to stalking "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Shawn Johnson.

Robert O'Ryan appeared with a public defender during his arraignment Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Prosecutors charged O'Ryan, 34, with one felony count of stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle.

Prosecutors say O'Ryan was arrested Tuesday after he tried to jump a security fence at a studio where the ABC show is produced.

Authorities say he drove from Florida to meet Johnson, a 17-year- old Olympic gymnast. Officials say they found loaded guns, duct tape and love letters in the car.

A Woman of Substance in A Glossy World

Cutler followed Wintour and her team of editors for nine months and went into her Greenwich Village home as well as her Times Square office. Cameras were there in Paris when she hosted a retailers luncheon during Fashion Week. Neiman Marcus executives applaud upon hearing that the Vogue editors have spoken with designer Miuccia Prada about her penchant for fabrics that are too heavy and hot for their Southern markets and report that Prada has agreed to cut part of her collection in a lighter silk blend. Still needy, however, Neiman chief executive Burt Tansky laments that retailers have an ongoing problem with deliveries. The clothes are simply not getting to the stores in a timely manner. Could Wintour do something about that? Her joking response: "What would you like me to do, rent a truck?"

Cutler captures Wintour in her usual sphinxlike posture at runway shows. But he also talks to her, along with her daughter, Bee Shaffer, a college student who is more inclined to pursuing a law degree than an editing job at a magazine.

And an amateur psychologist would find much to dissect in Wintour's brief conversation about her family. Her father was a respected British journalist. Her three siblings are all trying to save the world in various politically correct ways. And what do they think of Wintour's job: mixing couture shoots and Botox stories with political profiles? After a long pause, a few downward glances and a smile that exudes a complicated mix of emotions, Wintour says they're "amused by what I do."

For Obama, a Hit and a Miss On Gay Rights

By Jonathan Capehart
Sunday, June 21, 2009

Let's face it, the Obama administration bungled the politics surrounding its filing of a brief in a case challenging the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages. But the searing criticism that President Obama is getting for it borders on a blind rage that obscures some positive changes for gay men and lesbians from his administration in both style and substance.

Obama has only himself to blame for this. The first substantive comment on gay and lesbian equality since he took office was the Justice Department's noxious brief in Arthur Smelt and Christopher Hammer v. United States of America, and it fueled suspicion that the president was backpedaling on his promises. It didn't have to be that way. The department could have fulfilled its obligation to defend the nation's laws without repeating ugly reasoning rooted in ignorance.

The Justice Department could have stopped with its sound argument that the case should be dismissed because the plaintiffs did not "claim to have plans to seek recognition of their . . . California marriage in another state" and they "do not suggest that they have applied for any federal benefits, much less been denied any at this point." Thus, neither an "imminent injury" nor an "injury in fact" attributable to DOMA has been established. The plaintiffs lack standing. Case closed. That would have been fine with gay rights groups, which viewed Smelt-Hammer as an imperfect vehicle for challenging DOMA's constitutionality. "We had no problem with DOJ getting rid of this case," one legal expert told me. "The plaintiffs didn't tell a good story."
