Gallery brief and Design concept

The vision for this gallery was to provide a place to hold personal art exhibition, a place for artists to display and sell their work and an attraction for visitors and thereby local business benefits. The outlook of the building must blend with Newtown, yet something different enough to bring people's attention.I designed a gallery comprising of different gallery spaces. These gallery spaces are cubes, varying in length and height, featured by transition of the variable space volume and visibility, which triggers visitors' curiosity and mysterious feeling. The whole gallery uses staircase, ramp and bridge to generate a form of spiral, creating a sensible circulation in the galleys and also counterbalances the generally adopted linear elements.
